Amy grew up in Batavia, New York. As a young student, she participated in a foreign exchange program, studying in Granada, Spain. Having lived there for a year, she speaks fluent Spanish. She continued her studies at Ohio University, Athens, and State University of New York (SUNY), Buffalo.
Fleeing the long winters, Amy moved to New Bern, NC and opened her own business. Owning and operating a café polished her skills in marketing, time management, buying, selling and creating success. After several years, Amy was recruited by Sysco Foods as a Sales Associated, which afforded her extensive training in sales and marketing by one of the best companies in the USA. She eventually sold her business but retained the real estate, renting it out for many years. She worked and grew with Sysco for years before meeting her husband, Ian, and moving to Sanibel.
It was a smooth transition to Sanibel as Amy’s family had been visiting annually since 1972 and Ian’s family started coming in the 1930’s. Amy became involved in the community immediately and has served roles in many different island organizations, such as the Sanibel Community House Board, the Sanibel-Captiva Optimist Club, Lake Murex HOA, Captiva Chapel by the Sea and Sanibel Captiva Islands Association of Realtors.
When not working or volunteering, Amy, Ian and their 2 pups, Kernel and Nugget, enjoy walking the beach and cruising the islands in their Jeep. Would you like to join Amy living the dream on Sanibel?
