Deb the Deltiologist!

While browsing at the lovely gift shop at the lovely Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum Gift Shop, I was delighted to discover the Postcard History Series book “Sanibel and Captiva Islands”, co-authored by VIP REALTOR Deb Gleason. Deb grew up on Sanibel and is our resident historian, but I had no idea she was also a deltiologist! Deltiologist? That is the study and collecting of postcards. The term is derived from the Greek “deltos” meaning writing tablet. The term deltiologist was coined by fellow Buckeye and The Ohio State University zoologist Rendell Rhoades in 1945. I share this information in case you are ever a contestant on “Jeopardy’!

This fascinating book is also available at the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village Gift Shop. Deb has been on the Museum Board for many years and is happy to share her knowledge of the island history as well as the real estate market, anytime. As her client shared on a recent VIP opinion survey, Deb is ” honest, responsible, personable and effective”. We think she is the best too! Give Deb a call at 239.472.5187 and let her know how she might assist you as you explore Sanibel and Captiva!
