Bibliophiles, Conchologists, and Cinephiles will be very busy this season on our beautiful islands!
Let’s start with the great news that the Sanibel Public Library has announced the 2024-2025 Author Series lineup, including Sarah Penner, Kate Quinn, David Grann, and Kristy Woodson Harvey. For more than a decade, the Library, partnering with the Sanibel Public Library Foundation, has connected local bibliophiles to award-winning authors for an intimate evening presentation, followed by a champagne reception. Tickets for these events are extremely limited and in high demand so the Library will continue to utilize a ticket “lottery system”. Speaking of bibliophiles, Rebecca, who owns McIntosh Books, has been donating books to the “Little Free Libraries” on the island. Yesterday, I stopped at the Community House Free Library and was delighted to find, not just some good books but this beautiful shell painted by “BGS”. It’s always such a treat to find these diminutive works of art. Thank you to all the talented conchologist artisans who sprinkle these high quality, small indulgences around our islands!
Big Arts is thrilled to announce its Fall Film Festival, Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16. Over these two days , enjoy documentaries by critically acclaimed, Emmy-nominated filmmaker Andrew Rossi. Cinephiles will want to attend a dinner reception and exclusive Q & A session with Director Rossi.
