As you enjoy the beautiful, barrier island beaches, the City of Sanibel asks you to protect our nesting shorebirds and endangered seaturtles. Nesting season for both shorebirds and seaturtles continue throughout the summer months. Please do your part to protect these wildlife species!
Here is what you can do to help:
- Respect Posted Areas
- Keep Your Distance from Nests
- Never Intentionally Force Birds to Fly
- Keep Pets Away from Established Nesting Areas
- Keep the Beach Clean and Do Not Feed Wildlife
- Comply with Beachfront Lighting Ordinances
- Do Not Use Flash Photography, Flashlights, or Phone Lights near nests
- Remove Furniture and Equipment When Not in Use between 9 PM and 7 AM
- Level All Sandcastles and Fill Any Holes When You Leave for the Day
