Being the 79th annual showcase, shell enthusiasts are coming from around the USA and Canada to participate in Sanibel’s famous Shell Festival. Open to all shell collectors, the shell show is held inside the Community House at 2173 Periwinkle Way. This gives visitors an opportunity to view shells brought by shell collectors from around the world. Shell artist Bill Jordan will be presenting history of Sailor’s Valentines, works of art that were popular from the 1800s and also today. Being that there is no entrance fee, a $5 donation will be requested to attend the show. All donation funds raised by the Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club are given in the form of grants and scholarships at the University of South Florida and Florida Gulf Coast University for students who are interested in marine and ecological science.
